WPCS Performance Show

I was privileged to be involved in the WPCS Performance Event this year and was fortunate enough to steward in the Novice ridden rings for two days. It was a really good experience to be able to steward for the first time in a ring with experienced judges and learn along the way. It was also lovely to see the other young people that came to help, having a good time and getting involved. Mason Whittle and Jay Doorhof really enjoyed helping out in both the dressage and jumping rings and had a great time working with the course builder on Saturday afternoon to prepare the course for the jumping on Sunday. I would like to express my thanks to Tanya Baldwin for the experience and for allowing me to run my charity raffle which resulted in me raising over £100 for my charity, Macmillan Cancer Support. It was also a lovely end to the show on the Sunday afternoon to be given the opportunity to present the final awards alongside the main sponsors, Steve Everitt, Tanya Baldwin and Ed Gummery.

Brecon and Borders

It was lovely to be able to be involved in the young handler classes at Brecon and Borders show this year. I would like to express my thanks to Holly for allowing me to be involved and present these fantastic young handlers with their awards. Below are young handler winners, Gracie-May Freeman, Olivia Freeman and Catrin Batt.

Cwm Show

Me and my family sponsored the prize money for Champion and reserve young handlers this year at Cwm show. The champion and reserve young handlers are shown below. Champion young handler was Mason Whittle with his Section C mare Kirrem Olympia and reserve champion was Olivia Freeman with her Section A Hope Morvudd. Also, well done to Baker Bowerman who also won his class with his Shetland pony. Photographs by Sarah Hayman

St Clears

Although, I wasn’t actively involved in the St Clears show, after competing myself, I was able to watch the young handler classes and managed to get a picture with champion Mason Whittle with his Section A Rockyview Bay Dawn. It was also lovely to meet reserve champion young handler, Myfanwy Edwards, who did a fabulous job with her Shetland pony.

Blaenavon

This year at the Blaenavon show, I decided to sponsor the awards for the young handler classes. I then presented these awards to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place handlers with each handler receiving a Bronze, Silver or Gold medal. Champion and reserve young handler also received a trophy each. The winners of each class and overall champion and reserve are shown in the photo below.  Winners were Mason Whittle, Olivia Freeman and Catrin Batt.

Gwent Area Association Show

I would like to give a very special mention and a huge thank you to the Gwent Area Association for their amazing support of my role as young ambassador. The committee and members of the association kindly decided that they would like to grant me a bursary to use however I chose. I am extremely grateful for the bursary and decided to use some of it to sponsor sashes for the young handler classes at the association show. I will be using the remainder of the money to go towards my charity of the year, Macmillan Cancer Support. The Gwent Area Association were also kind enough to allow me to run my charity raffle at the show where I also managed to raise over £160 for Macmillan Cancer Support. It was also lovely to get a picture with champion young handler Cameron Sage and Reserve champion young handler Catrin Batt with their beautiful sashes. It was also lovely to see Ella Edwards again with her pony, Celton Tywysog and hear about how she’s been getting on in her ridden classes.

Sponsors

After completing two charity raffles, with one taking place at the WPCS Performance Event raising £130 and another at the Gwent Area Association show raising just over £160, I would like to give a special mention to the companies that have been kind enough to provide sponsorship through raffle prizes in order to make this possible. Sponsors include; NAF, Carrs Billington, Horslyx and Morrisons, and a thank you to everyone that has bought a ticket to support.  Without these kind donations these charity raffles would not have been possible.
