Welsh Pony and Cob Society Young Ambassador 2020 – 2021

The Welsh Pony and Cob Society Trustees have great pleasure in announcing the appointment of the Young Ambassador elect for 2020 – 2021.

Hannah Atkinson, from North Yorkshire will shadow the current Young Ambassador Catrin Reed until the Society’s Annual General Meeting in April when she will take over the role.

Hannah is a well-known face to many from the Welsh Pony and Cob world and in the wider arena of the ridden Mountain and Moorland rings where she has been very successful with several Ponies and Cobs. WPCS President Mr Brian Foster commented on Hannah’s appointment. “ The Society is delighted to share that Hannah has been awarded this role. Her experience and enthusiasm for the breed and her vivacious personality will stand her in good stead as she works to promote the ideals of the Society and be the voice for the young members. We wish her the best of luck for an outstanding year of opportunities”

Hannah and her mother run the very successful Danwood Stud near Stokesley. She has competed at all levels on all sections of the breed.When asked how she felt about taking up the role Hannah said “ I am very honoured and pleased to be selected as the WPCS Young Ambassador for 2020-21. I have had Welsh ponies all my life and they have provided me with so many amazing memories, friendships and opportunities and I sincerely hope during this time I am able to give something back to this amazing breed and the society . I am so proud of the versatility of our Welsh breeds and hope to celebrate this during my time as Young Ambassador. I am looking forward to meeting like-minded members and young members throughout the year and wish everybody a happy & successful 2020”.

Colin Thomas – Chair of the WPCS Council in welcoming Hannah to the role said “Hannah has the ability to reach out to our younger members, and potential young members far and wide, and her successes to date speak volumes for her hard work and commitment. We look forward to her joining the WPCS team.”
