Mr John Greenleaf – BROOKHALL

The recent passing of John Greenleaf sees the Welsh Section B breed lose one of its most respected devotees. A long time champion of Welsh ponies based in the East, John and family were true ambassadors.
The Brookhall prefix was originally registered in 1978, breeding a few Welsh section A’s before concentrating on the B’s, and the appeal of the Weston bloodlines was prevalent in the stud’s breeding programme. Two favourites to mention were the stallion Weston Neptune and the mare Weston Lillie Langtree both of whom had such an influence on the stud. Brookhall ponies were often seen winning at the major shows and topping the sales.
John’s particular favourite, Brookhall Porcelain, was a granddaughter of this mating and it is fitting that he entrusted her to his good friends Everhard and Lennard Zoet in the Netherlands to carry on the bloodline.
John will be sadly missed – a true gentleman who carried the flag for the Welsh section B so proudly.
The Society extends its sympathy to his family and friends
