Keith Spenser – Felinmor

It is with much regret that the Society was saddened to hear of the sudden death of James Keith Spenser of the Felinmor Stud.  Keith had been involved with horses since he was six years of age as his father had kept and worked with horses for many years.  Keith joined the Society in 1967,became a member of the Panel of Judges in 1985 and gained his asterisk in 1990.    He was privileged to judge the Section Cs at the Royal Welsh Show in 1997 and went on to judge the Section Ds in 2004 coinciding with the Royal Welsh Centenary celebrations.  He judged many shows in the UK and also travelled abroad where he met and made friends with like minded Welsh Pony and Cob enthusiasts.  Keith was also an Assessor involved in appointing members on to the Panel of Judges, a duty he took with extreme seriousness.  Keith stood for Council and successfully represented the membership from 2004 to 2011. Keith was also very much involved with the Ceredigion Welsh Pony and Cob Association and was a Committee member for several years and loved to attend the various events held, especially the annual Stud visits and the Association Shows. What many members may not know was that Keith also spent many hours volunteering his time to help the Society, from stuffing envelopes for the Journal mailing to loading vehicles ready for numerous journeys be it to meetings, AGMs or shows.  He also acted as chauffeur, driving staff members to various events, shows, meetings, etc which he and Llinos also attended.

A public funeral will be held at 11.00 am on Thursday, 1st February, 2024 at the Crematorium, Aberystwyth. Family flowers only.  Donations to Cancer Research.
