Canlyniad Tendr Arwerthiant Swyddogol Cymdeithas y Merlod a’r Cobiau Cymreig / Tender result -The Welsh Pony and Cob Society Official Sale

The Welsh Pony and Cob Society  announced today that they have secured the services of McCartneys to host the annual Society breed sales as Official Auctioneers.

Following a tender process for a five-year contract, McCartneys will now arrange this autumn’s official WPCS sale to be held at the Royal Welsh Showground during the period of 15th to the 18th of October. The sales will cater for all five sections of the Welsh Stud book, sections A, B, C, D and their Part-breds.

The McCartneys team will be led by Jenny Layton Mills, B.Sc. (Hons) MRICS.FAAV. FLAA. The auctioneers will be headed by Phillip Blackman- Howard, Lloyd Humphreys and James Amphlett.

In awarding the tender Colin Thomas Chairman of the WPCS said: “We look forward to working closely with Jenny and her team to host the Official sales on behalf of the membership, whilst ensuring the promotion of our Welsh breeds to a worldwide market.”

Elgan Evans, Chairman of the WPCS Sales Committee said “I am very pleased that the Society has been able to appoint auctioneers who have an abundance of experience selling pedigree livestock and equines.

For McCartneys – Jenny Layton- Mills said: “We are delighted to secure the opportunity to work with the largest Native Breed Society in Europe, at a pivotal time, where it is more important than ever to provide a platform to showcase what the Welsh breeds have to offer in all equine disciplines. We relish this opportunity to work with the WPCS and its members”.

McCartneys LLP is a limited liability partnership with offices in Powys, Shropshire, Herefordshire. The firm has remained an independent partnership since 1874 and has been based in the Welsh border area since its inception. The firm has a strong tradition as professional livestock auctioneers.

The sale will be held over the four-day period depending on the number of entries received. The staging of the sales will be dependent on, and compliant with the current Welsh Government Covid regulations at the time.
