Appointment of Company Secretary

The Society which registers and safeguards the Welsh breeds, some of the best-loved horses in the UK, has appointed a new Company Secretary.

The Welsh Pony and Cob Society, based in Bronaeron near Lampeter, have appointed Meirion Davies as its new Company Secretary. The Society encourages the breeding and improvement of Welsh ponies and cobs. It oversees registrations, licences, transfers, and exports.

WPCS President Brian Foster, WPCS President Elect Roger Davies, WPCS Chairman Colin Thomas and Council said that they were very pleased to be announcing Meirion as the new Company Secretary.
Originally from Pembrokeshire in West Wales, Meirion now resides near Kidwelly in Carmarthenshire. He has been a member of the society since childhood. “I am delighted to be joining the Society team, and look forward to serving and inspiring the membership to enjoy and promote the five sections of our wonderful breed.

The Society benefits from a world-wide footprint of breed enthusiasts; be they a ‘one pony owner’ or a larger stud, whose combined interest and dedication will ensure the continuing promotion of the breed.”

Meirion Davies will take up the role in early October.

Mae’r Gymdeithas sy’n cofrestru a diogelu bridiau y merlod a’r cobiau Cymreig, a werthfawrogir ar draws y DU, wedi apwyntio Ysgrifennydd newydd.

Mae Cymdeithas y Merlod a’r Cobiau Cymreig a leolir ym Mronaeron ger Llanbedr Pont Steffan, wedi apwyntio Meirion Davies yn Ysgrifennydd y Gymdeithas. Mae’r Gymdeithas yn hyrwyddo bridio a chynnal safon Merlod a Chobiau Cymreig. Mae’n gyfrifol am gofrestru, trwyddedu, trosglwyddo perchnogaeth ac allforion.

Dywedodd Llywydd y Gymdeithas Brian Foster, y Rhaglywydd Roger Davies a’r Cadeirydd Colin Thomas eu bod yn hynod falch i gyhoeddi taw Meirion fydd yr Ysgrifennydd newydd.
Yn wreiddiol o Sir Benfro, mae Meirion bellach yn byw ger Cydweli yn Sir Gaerfyrddin. Mae’n aelod o’r Gymdeithas ers yn blentyn. “Dwi’n falch ofnadwy i ymuno â thîm y Gymdeithas, ac yn edrych ymlaen at wasanaethu’r aelodaeth a’u hysbrydoli i fwynhau ag hyrwyddo pump adran y brîd arbennig yma.

Mae’r Gymdeithas yn elwa o gefnogaeth byd-eang gan edmygwyr y brîd, boed rheiny’n ‘berchennog un ferlen’ neu’n fridfa fawr. Mae eu diddordeb a’u hymroddiad yn sicrhau datblygiad parhaus y brîd”
