Animals in War Memorial Service, Park Lane, London
WPCS Trustees Angela Kember and Ed Gummery laid a wreath on behalf of the Society and its members at the Memorial Service for Animals in War. The service was organised by the Petplan Charitable Trust and held at the Memorial on Park Lane in London.
The wreath, in memory of those animals that served during all wars and those lost, was kindly donated by member Jacky Kirk, a gift she has provided for several years. The Society would like to thank Jacky for this kind act.
The Service held on the 10th of November at 11.00am observed a minute’s silence and then heard readings of a ‘A Soldier’s’ kiss’ and addresses from individuals who work with animals in fields of conflict, or support animals affected in those areas of war. Some 27 animal charities laid wreaths in memory of the animal, and the service closed with a reading by Sir Derek Jacobi CBE.
