WPCS SALES FOR 2020 /2021
WPCS Autumn Sales plans
Following Brightwells withdrawal as auctioneers of the WPCS official sales, and the subsequent effect of the Covid 19 Pandemic, the WPCS Council of Trustees are considering a variety of options, to enable Official WPCS sales to take place in 2020 and 2021.
The Society’s first choice would be to establish traditional sales with a new Auctioneer this autumn.
However, given the current restrictions and guidelines implemented by the Welsh Government regarding large gatherings of people, the Society is also working in the short term, on a model for one or more online sales to be held from late summer through autumn.
These are uncertain and difficult times for all, and we ask for the support of the membership in the setting up of this unique type sale. The movement of pedigree stock amongst breeders is of genetic importance however the driving force behind the need for the staging of sales in the current climate is against the background of potential welfare issues, if stock numbers need reducing.
In parallel the Society is also working towards re-establishing the traditional Breed sale auctions, if possible, this Autumn, and if not in the Spring and Autumn of 2021 if restrictions allow, in partnership with an Auctioneer.
Should this not be possible this Autumn, then the option of the online sales, having consulted experts from the industry, would be actioned as soon as possible.
Once confirmed the dates and venues for the sales will be shared with the membership. As you can imagine a considerable amount of research and information gathering has taken place to facilitate the options under consideration, and to ascertain what is best for the membership and the breed in these ever-changing times.
