A statement from the Council of Trustees 27/01/2020

Following the General Meetings held on 31st of August  and the 18th of September 2019 the Council has given full consideration to the agenda items and non-agenda topics raised, and the feelings of those members present.

After detailed discussion Council has decided:

1. To create a Working Party to review the current policy on the harvesting, and recording of DNA samples, and provide recommendations for the future, for approval and implementation.

2. The Society Trustees have followed correct procedure according to its ‘Complaints and Disciplinary’ protocol as published in the Judging and Showing Handbooks of 2018 and 2019. Following legal advice, the Society’s recent disciplinary cases will not be revisited or reviewed, unless further evidence for individual cases is brought to the Council’s attention.

3. The Council have revisited the guidelines in the annual ‘Judging and Showing handbook for 2020’ and amended the wording of some points to clarify procedure, and to ensure clearer communi-cation with the membership.

4. The Council are in the process of looking at options regarding the number of Trustees to form a Council in future, and their period of tenure. Any change in the number of Trustees would be phased in over a period of time.
