Go Charlotte!

The Welsh Pony and Cob Society would like to congratulate Charlotte Dujardin and Gio on their Olympic Bronze medal today. Such a fantastic achievement as she becomes the most medalled British female Olympiad in history.

Like Olympic three-day-eventer Laura Collett who competes later this week, Charlottes’ early days in the saddle were spent on a Welsh breed. She enjoyed great success at the highest level with the chestnut mare Ardenhall Royal Secret, being Children’s Riding Pony of the Year at HOYS on more than one occasion.

This just goes to prove how a Welsh A, B, C, D or Welsh Part bred can be a springboard to Olympic success.

Llongyfarchiadau mawr Charlotte!

Ardenhall Royal Secret was bred by Jane May and produced by Debbie Thomas. Sired by Fairley Rembrandt and out of Woodview Karelia she traces back to the Welsh Section B stallions Keston Royal Occasion on her sire’s side and Gunthwaite Fleur De Rue on the dam’s side. The combination dominated the ridden pony rings in the UK before she was exported to Australia. A truly great performer, she had as impactful an influence down under in the breeding paddocks, as a prolific dam at the Whitmere stud of Greg Gerry and Darren Telford in Victoria.
