Robert Thomas – PENTWYN

Robert Thomas of the Pentwyn stud, near Tredegar has sadly passed away. Robert’s love for the breed began when he was a teenager, joining the Society first as a junior member and then as an adult in 1981. His first breeding forays were with Welsh Mountain ponies running them on the Trefil hill, however he soon focused on Section C’s from his farm at Pentwyn.

His love for the Section C was endorsed by the successes of Pentwyn Jay as a young colt and later as a mature stallion. Latterly showing his dun filly Pentwyn Gracie Girl gave him great satisfaction.

Robert was always ready to help others stable and work with their horses at his farm. He was known as a ready helping hand when friends were in need and was much loved.  He will be sadly missed by his family, Gail, Tyrone. Mathew and families.

Pentwyn farm was a meeting place for many in the area to discuss Welsh ponies and their world and these friends will miss him immensely.

The Society extends its sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
