Mr I. J. Morgan – HEOLAS

The Society is sad to mark the passing of Mr Ieuan Morgan of the Heolas stud near Aberdare.
The stud was founded in the 1950s by Ieuan and his father the late David Morgan, initially breeding Welsh Mountain ponies and running premium stallions on the Penderyn Hill. Penderyn Monty being one of the preferred sires alongside Dyrin Tom Thumb and Cusop Butternut.
Ieuan also bred C’s and in more recent years his love for Welsh Cobs came to the fore, supported by his daughters Nia and Non, purchasing some of the top priced cobs at the sales, namely Kallistalodge Hercules, Malnor Autumn Dawn and Glantraeth Evita. A firm homebred favourite of his was Heolas Blodwen – whom he hand reared from birth. Blodwen is also precious as being the last filly by the renowned Synod Reflection.
Ieuan’s legacy was his passion for the breed which will continue in the hands of his daughters Nia and Non and the fourth generation of the Heolas Stud, his granddaughter Eleri.
The Society wishes to extend its sincere sympathy to his family and friends.
