The Judges for the National Welsh Championship Show, due to be held on the 12th August 2012 at the Three Counties Showground, Malvern, Worcestershire have now been announced.

The 2012 Journal was completed on schedule on 23rd January. Many thanks to all who have made this possible. Distribution of the Journal to members will commence 23rd February.

The Welsh Part-Bred Horse Group Annual Performance Awards Luncheon was held on Wednesday 7th December 2011 at the Hare and Hounds Westonbirt.

The 34th Mountain and Moorland Ridden Championship had 40 qualifying animals from a wide range of native breeds, 15 of which were Welsh. Section B gelding Bronheulog Harvey achieved 4th place overall, an excellent achievement against such a large field.

The NPS Welfare & Education Committee are holding an Education, Careers & Welfare Day to provide equine students with information on our Native Breeds and British Riding Ponies and equine career opportunities

The Welsh Pony and Cob Society gives notice that it is convening an Extraordinary General Meeting for members, to be held on Saturday 28th January 2012 at the Barcelo Cheltenham Park Hotel, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, GL53 8EA at 2pm.

Millcroft Stud have been long time campaigners for the development of gelding classes within shows. A new National Gelding Championship will be held in conjunction with the National Welsh Show at Malvern on Sunday 12th August 2012

The presentation of the 2011 WPCS Performance Competition Awards took place on Sunday 4 December in Cheltenham when over 150 people attended which included trustees, members, friends and invited guests.

On Saturday 12th November Hartpury College played host to the WPCS Judges Conference, where over 300 judges and members attended the popular events.

The Sports Pony Studbook Society Grading involved a number of Welsh and Welsh Part Bred animals scoring highly.

Resistance is a new film coming out filmed on the Welsh Borders based on a book by Owen Sheers. A number of Welsh Pony and Cob Society members and registered animals were involved in the making of this film, due to launch on 25th November

With the Olympic year in mind, the NPS Dressage Working Group have opened their competition to encourage pony enthusiasts who enjoy competing on a British breed of pony and their registered part-breds to come out and qualify over the winter.

Lady Anne Vestey reached a remarkable milestone at the recent BSPS Heritage Championships, when her Welsh cob Kentchurch Charity ridden by Jack Bowlby qualified for the 2011 Olympia Mountain and Moorland Final.

Horse of the Year Show 2011

*Updated* There will be a memorial service for former trustee and Life Member of the Society, Mr Dai Davies of Glanrannell Stud. The service will be held on 19th October at Brondeifi Unitarian Chapel, Lampeter at 12pm.

On the 14th & 15th April 2012, the NPS Dressage Working Group - a volunteer branch of the NPS - will host the fifth running of the NPS Supreme Dressage Championships sponsored in 2012 by Fodder Solutions.

The Welsh breeds have had a successful run of qualifiers and reserves for the HOYS Cuddy In-hand championships.
