Mr Dewi Jones – Bridfa Tremymor Stud

The Society is saddened to share the news of the passing of Dewi Jones, Tremymor Stud, Bethania, at the age of 85 years.

Dewi was always a very hard working, well respected and knowledgeable man. He was always happy to help others, with a love and passion for the horses to the very end.

Dewi and his wife Rose, established the Tremymor stud in 1972. Joining the Society in that same year, the breeding, showing and judging of section C's and D's, was an integral part of Dewi’s life. He was always happy to help fellow members, and always encouraged the younger members coming through.ne of his proudest moments was meeting Society Patron Her Majesty the Late Queen Elizabeth II at the Royal Welsh show in 1983.

Dewi’s showring successes were many; to name a few, with the Section C’s Tremymor Sportsman, Tremymor Edwina, Glogue Dafydd and Menai Rancher. His lifelong dream was to breed Royal Welsh and Lampeter Stallion show champions, and he succeeded with Tremymor Sportsman.  Sportsman winning the Royal Welsh as a youngster, he returned to achieve even greater  success and reach the pinnacle as a junior stallion at the 2004 Royal Welsh Centenary show, where he won the overall Section C championship, , gold medal  and stood reserve Supreme Welsh exhibit for the Tom and Sprightly trophy. He was also Section C champion and Supreme Champion at Lampeter stallion show in 2009. Bestowed with an Honorary life membership of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society in 2017, this recognised just how much hard work Dewi put into the breed.

Dewi has passed on his passion, knowledge and love of the breed to his son Gareth, who alongside his wife Helen, and their daughters, will continue Dewi's legacy to breed and show Tremymor horses.Dewi was very proud of the achievements of his children and grandchildren.

The Society extends its sympathy to his wife Rose, sons Wyn and Gareth and their families.

The funeral is strictly private and will be held at Bethania Chapel on Saturday, 15th of July 2023.

Donations in memory of Dewi, can be made to Blaenos Nursing Home in Llandovery, to express the family’s heartfelt thanks for all the care and love shown to Dewi over the last seven years, through Mr R. Jenkins, Glanrhos, Nebo, Llanon, SY23 5LF.
