Miss Sue Hardy - President Elect 2024

The Society is pleased to announce the appointment of Miss Sue Hardy as the Welsh Pony and Cob Society President Elect for 2024, to serve alongside the current President Mrs Jocelyn Price.

Sue has been a dedicated member of the WPCS since 1976, breeding under the Briarth prefix, alongside her sister Janet.

As an ex-Chair of Council, Sue is well aware of the work and processes that go on behind the scenes and the requirements of the President’s role that sits alongside the Welsh Pony and Cob Society Board of Trustees, and we look forward to welcoming her back. Sue’s knowledge and experience of equines and the many disciplines that promote competition, is not restricted just to the Welsh breeds but extends further afield, which brings valuable appreciation to assist the Society moving forward.

Sue has always been an avid supporter of the Performance Competition and Young Judge’s competition and many of you will know her from the tireless work she undertakes alongside her sister during the week of the Royal Welsh, to collate the points for the Sire and Dam Awards.

Speaking about her appointment, Sue said “I feel very honoured to be appointed as President Elect of the Society and will do my utmost to promote the Welsh breeds and Part Breds, particularly having regard for their outstanding excellence in all ridden and driven disciplines. I believe it is also very important that the unique heritage of the breed is preserved for future generations, especially as they are an integral part of Welsh culture and tradition for which I have tremendous admiration and respect and I look forward to serving the Society and its members.”

Chairman of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society, Ed Gummery said, “I first met Sue some years ago when I was invited to attend a forum at the South West Area Association. Sue’s knowledge of the Breed, Society matters and charitable objectives were evidently abundant, along with her loyalty and dedication to the Society. This together with her natural enthusiasm make her the ideal candidate as President Elect and I have no doubt she is well equipped to excel in her new role.”

We look forward to welcoming Sue on board at her first Council meeting and hope that many of our members will get to opportunity to meet her over the coming months.
