Ernest Donald (Ernie) Beynon Glenmead Stud

Ernest Donald (Ernie) Beynon Glenmead Stud

Sadly, the WPCS has been informed of the passing of Ernest Donald (Ernie) Beynon, Glenmead Stud, peacefully on Tuesday 16th April, aged 93.

A long-standing member of WPCS, with a passionate interest in Welsh Ponies and Cobs. Ernie was a very well-known and respected breeder of Sections A, C and D, and Glenmead ponies and cobs have gone on to compete successfully and strengthen the breeding lines of a number of studs at home and abroad.

Possibly the pinnacle of his achievements was taking Youngstock Champion at Royal Welsh with a home bred yearling Section D filly, Glenmead Miss Magic.

He also had a great eye for spotting potential, and one of his best spots and subsequent purchases was Crugybar Cariad who was shown very successfully as a youngster, winning Lampeter, Glanusk and many other shows as a yearling, and placed 3rd in a huge class at Royal Welsh.

Ernie was also a popular panel judge for many years.

Funeral to take place 12pm Friday May 10th at Llanelli Crematorium. Light refreshments afterwards at Penclawdd Rugby Club.
