Mrs Charmian Middleton – Ross Stud

The Society is sad to mark the passing of another member, Mrs C.W Middleton, of the Ross Stud, Powys.

Charmian Middleton was the daughter of the late Mrs Evelyn Satchell who herself bred the notable Oakhatch Welsh Cobs. Her grand-father’s brother Mr Storey was one of the twelve founding life members of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society in 1902.

She joined the Society in 1965 and her passion was for the sections C and D. During her life she lived at Forest Lodge near Brecon but latterly residing at Old Hall near Llandrindod Wells.

She exhibited at the highest level winning the Section C Female Championships at the Royal Welsh show in 1971 with Gwynau Dolly co-owned with her late husband  Malcolm Richards and Faelog Frolic in 1979. She was a panel judge for both sections and also enjoyed judging ridden classes. She judged the Welsh Cobs at the Royal Welsh show in 1977 when she selected Llanarth Flying Comet and Geler Neli as her Male and Female Champions.

The Society extends its sympathy to her son Thomas, family and friends.
