Frank Megens – Ijsselblick Stud (NL)

The Society was saddened to hear the news of Frank Megens’ passing.

Frank first joined the WPCS in 1996, having been a breeder of Welsh Mountain ponies in his native Holland near the German border since 1989. His Ijsselblik stud was mainly based on Coed Coch bloodlines; some notable stallions he used being Cwmffrwyd Lead Soldier and latterly Harringworth Millionaire.

Frank can only be described as a devoted enthusiast of the breed – he was passionate about bloodlines and stewarded at many leading shows. He co-judged the Welsh Mountain ponies at the WPCS International show in Denmark in 2015 which he took as a great honour.

Frank’s untimely death robs the Welsh world of a welcoming smile and one of its most enthusiastic international ambassadors. Anyone who was invited to Judge in Holland where Frank was their steward was in safe hands. He would always have time for a chat and will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Our sympathy is extended to his family and friends.
