David Wynne Jones – Telynau Stud

Today the Society sadly shares news of another member’s passing.

David Wynne Jones of the Telynau Stud joined the society as a life member in 1978. Originally breeding ponies under the Bennwyn prefix, his passion lay with the Section B ponies closely followed by the Welsh Partbred and section A’s.

A panel judge, a previous WPCS Assessor and a keen showman; David took great pleasure from the ponies at Telynau which he and his partner Geraint bred and exhibited, all over the UK with great success.

Many Telynau ponies have been exported to breeders in Australia, the USA and Europe.

David  judged the Welsh Ponies Section B at the Royal Welsh Show in 2011; an honour which gave him great pleasure, noting in his report that at the end of the day he chose ‘two special ponies he would have loved to take home’.

Our thoughts and sympathies are with Geraint, his family, and friends.
