Celtic-Rose blooms in November!

On a miserable wet November Saturday morning, Welsh Cobs brightened the day and were much in demand on the fourth Official WPCS Online sale.
Topping the sale as the very last lot on offer was Julie Evans’ five year old homebred mare Haighmoor Celtic Rose WM176312 at £5,100; selling to a ridden home in the Corwen area of North Wales. A fourth generation from Haighmoor; this mare traces back to both Derwen Desert Express and Railway Express. Already a winner in hand, having had a year off to breed a foal, Rose has recently been brought back into work and shows great promise as a top ridden prospect.
Another Rose following on at £3,500 was the ridden six year old palomino section D Greenmeads Daniels Golden Rose WM 172661, a grand-daughter of Nebo Daniel; consigned by her breeder Mrs Fouche from Suffolk. Golden Rose will make her new home in Bedfordshire.
Topping the Cob foals was the glamourous Caederwen Miss Dior WM185365 selling at £3,400 following in the hoofprints of her recordbreaking sister last year Caederwen Miss Monroe. Having three crosses of Brynymor Welsh Magic in her pedigree Miss Dior moves to Buckinghamshire.
The Online sale reaches far and wide and this time it was first time Dutch vendor Marius Meeus who gained the highest price in the Section A’s with his precocious colt foal Langvennen Seryddwr WS110649. The successful bidder is based in Surrey. Seryddwr goes back to Glenfield and Twyford lines so should feel at home in the South East!
27 of the 50 entered sold for an average of £1,153.
The Society would like to thank Farmer’s Marts for hosting the sale. The fifth and final sale for 2020 will be held on Monday 14th of December. Entries close on Thursday 26th November. (Information correct at time of publishing)
