WPCS Council Meeting 06/07/10

Summary Report

This report summarises the main points that were discussed during a meeting of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society Council that took place on Tuesday 6th July 2010.

Society Business

Gwyneira Edwards, the Society’s Office Manager, will be leaving the employment of the Society on the 13th August 2010 and starting in a new job with Ceredigion County Council on the 16th August. Gwyneira has worked for the Society for over 27 years and Council members expressed their sincere gratitude to Gwyneira for her work with the Society and presented her with gift from Council members.

The WPCS Microchipping Committee is being reconvened to review the current microchipping system and registration process.  The report of this committee will be presented to Council for further deliberation.

The Society’s rules on Artificial Insemination are also being reviewed, for further report to Council.

The future of the Society’s Pavilion on the Royal Welsh Showground is being considered by an appointed project team of nominated Council members who will look at options for renovation or replacement and report back to Council.

It was decided that any items that are to be considered under “Any Other Business” during the AGM in 2011 must be received at the Society’s office, in writing, at least 14 days prior to the Meeting.

The list of Society delegates that represent the Society on various committees and meetings was updated and can be viewed here.

Society Office Premises

The refurbishment of the new offices in Bronaeron is progressing well and the Estates committee reported that costs are well within the budget that had been set for the refurbishment works, with an underspend anticipated.

The Society’s current offices at 6 Chalybeate Street, Aberystwyth will be closed on the 11th, 12th and 13th August 2010 to facilitate the office move to Bronaeron, Felinfach, Lampeter, Ceredigion, SA48 8AG.   The WPCS office will reopen in Bronaeron on Monday 16th August 2010.  We hope that this will not cause too much inconvenience to members and thank you in advance for your patience during this transition period.

The new telephone number at Bronaeron will be 01570 471754.

A series of “open days” for members to visit the new offices is being considered.
The current office premises at 6 Chalybeate Street, Aberystwyth are to be sold by quasi formal tender, with a sales brochure currently being finalised. The closing date for receipt of tenders will be the 6th September 2010.
