Transfer of Ownership

In order to complete a transfer of ownership, the Welsh Pony and Cob Society requires the passport returned to the office to the address below together with the transfer of ownership fee of £15. It is a legal requirement that the transfer of ownership is sent to the passport issuing organisation within 30 days of purchase.

Please ensure that the transfer of ownership boxes towards the front of the passport have been filled in. The Welsh Pony and Cob Society requires the name and address of the new owner, the date of purchase and the signature of the previous recorded owner. A signed copy of a receipt is acceptable if the transfer box has not been signed by the previous recorded owner.

If the transfer of ownership section has not been completed, then a Notification of Transfer slip can be sent to previous owners for completion.

If the transfer of ownership section has not been completed and previous recorded owners cannot be traced, the Society can accept a Statutory Declaration, witnessed by a solicitor. This is acceptable either on a solicitor's headed paper or signed and stamped by a solicitor.

The Society recommends sending passports via recorded delivery. For returning passports by recorded delivery, it is possible to have a prepaid return envelope which will stay with the animal's passport whilst it goes through our system. Alternatively, enclose payment for £3.50 and a note requesting return by recorded delivery.

Microchipping for Animals Already Registered

Due to current Welsh Assembly regulations and European Commission Regulation EC 262/2015, as from the 1st January 2016, if an animal has been implanted with a microchip, then the diagram form must be redrawn and the passport reprinted.

The microchip section must be completed by a veterinary surgeon, confirming the presence of the microchip. The markings can either be completed by a veterinary surgeon or by the owner of the animal.
