Registration, Membership and Transfer Figures
There appears to be some confusion regarding the Society’s registration, membership and transfer figures, therefore an updated spreadsheet has been published to clarify the situation. This can be found here.
Please note that the spreadsheet supplied consists of multiple worksheets that show individual analysis of registration, membership and transfer numbers on a monthly basis from January 2007 to March 2013. The worksheets can be accessed by clicking on the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet.
A further point to note is that the figures quoted relate to the number of financial transactions received in a particular month and therefore will not correlate exactly with, for example, the numbers of animals registered in a particular Stud Book.
Membership figures to date (1st January – 31st October) for 2012 are 2,992. This compares favourably with membership figures for the same period in 2011 (2,973), 2010 (2,752), 2009 (2,973) and 2008 (2,856). The membership figures quoted in 2007 include a number of 2006 memberships which were not input until January 2007 and therefore distort the figure for that month. Life membership are obviously not included in these figures.
Registration figures are showing a decline, as anticipated. January to October (inclusive) figures for 2012 are 6,460. For a similar period in 2011, registration transactions stood at 6,763; this figure was 6,935 in 2010 and 8,279 in 2009. Members may recall that it became obligatory to use microchips for all animals registered after July 2009, therefore a bulk of applications for registration were submitted early that year. It is worth noting that the Society anticipates a further decline in registration numbers over the next few years, due to economic and market conditions.
These figures are provided to members to keep members informed of trends and fluctuations in an open and transparent manner. It is very easy to misinterpret figures however and if you have any queries or wish for further clarification on the figures supplied, please do not hesitate to contact email@example.com.
Judging and Showing
Showing Welsh Ponies and Cobs can be tremendous fun and there are a number of affilated medal Shows to compete in across the UK.
The Society has a Panel of Judges for In-hand, Ridden and Driving classes.
Further information on the Judging and Showing can be found on the left hand side of this page.
Transfer of Ownership
The fee to record the transfer of ownership of an animal is £15. This is one of the most frequently asked questions on the Website! Please ensure that the last recorded owner has signed the passport to confirm the transfer and that this is returned with the correct remmittance. This is the buyers responsibility.
Please note that a registration form still has to be completed in order to overstamp another society passport. Please complete the entire registration form. Registration forms can be obtained from the Society office.Price List
Statement from Council
The Council of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society are mindful of the large number of ponies being bred in the current economic climate and urge members to act responsibly and be selective in their breeding policies.
