Young Judges Competition 2011

Twenty year old Ben Orchard was the winner of the WPCS Young Judge Competition 2011 held recently in conjunction with the National Welsh Show on the Three Counties Showground.

Ben, from Awbridge in Hants, came from the senior section and impressed judges Mr Robert Parker Jones and Mr William Jenkins with his knowledge and presentation to take the overall title.

The following day Ben gained ring experience when he accompanied  Mr Jenkins who judged the 2011 Brightwells Section D final at the National Show. Ben also received the Llanarth Salver kindly donated by Ann and Len Bigley and a bespoke stick made and presented by Council member, Mike Daley

Prize money throughout was kindly sponsored by Mrs Kathleen James which included a special overseas award which went to Leonard Zoet from Holland. The winning association was the team of Richard Jones, Lowri Reed and Thomas Jones from Ceredigion taking home the training bursary kindly presented by Mr and Mrs Jeff Parry.
