Summary of Council Meeting 22-9-15

The Council of The Welsh Pony and Cob Society sat on Tuesday, 22nd September, 2015.

Topics discussed included the sad news of the resignation – after nearly 22 years of excellent service – of Mrs Bethan Jones. Staff, members and trustees will miss her.

The current Pavilion was another item on the agenda. A communication from The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society provided detailed and helpful timescales for both organisations to work to. NB Catering for the Fayre Oaks Sales and the Autumn Cob Sales will be provided at the Pavilion. Further discussion of the Pavilion is expected after the next Council meeting on 12th October, 2015 – the day after the deadline for members’ ideas.

Also discussed was a staff review at the office in Bronaeron.

The Welsh Pony and Cob Society will, over the next few months, undergo a process of evaluating staff roles to see how the expertise in the office can best adapt to the challenges of a changing market, and ensure the best fit with new technology and IT infrastructures.

The Society’s long and proud history, as with any other organisation, relies on the right people doing the right job with the best tools – and for the WPCS this includes direction, strategy, training, staff development and the hardware – at their disposal to achieve and exceed targets and goals. Essential to this is maintain and improving the services offered to members, and the level of service provided.

A written request for the 2017 International Show to be held in the Netherlands has been received, and for Australia in 2019.

Finally, the Ceredigion Association forum will be on 3rd November, 2015. The venue and time are to be confirmed, but Council members attending will be David Roberts, John Kirk and Stewart Franklin.

The next Council meeting is on 12th October, 2015.
