South Eastern WPCA Summer Show 2015 - Report and Photographs

Sunday 14th June, 2015 saw all roads lead to the South Eastern Welsh Association show at Great Bookham Equestrian Centre, Surrey even though it fell on the same weekend as the South of England three day show and the Three Counties three day show. We honestly thought entry numbers would be down but how wrong could we be, with four out of the five sections being up on entry numbers this year.

With our three WPCS silver medal judges, Mrs Sarah Hamer (A), Mrs Ann Berryman-Horne (B and Welsh Part breds) and Roger Davies (C and D) getting together for our supreme Welsh awards, there was always going to be a difference of views.

They found their supreme gelding champion from the Section A's, in Westfirle Sand Martin with the reserve going to the Section C Bookham Lodge Tony Montana. Moving onto the supreme Foal award, this was found in the Welsh Section D class winner, from the Trevallion stud who also went on to take the supreme Brood Mare award with Trevallion Tigger Lilly. Reserve in both of these championships went to the Brookhall Stud, with their foal Brookhall Aurora and Brookhall Anemone from the Section B's; this Section B mare also taking the silver medal for her section.

Moving on to the supreme stallion award, this went to the winner of the Section D medal, namely Haniel Cochise, with the Section C medal winner, Danaway Bugsy taking the reserve. The barren mare supreme was found again from the Section D's in Rhoswen Marisa with the part bred Welsh silver medal winner, Seamoor Lady Derby standing reserve.

The supreme Welsh Youngstock award went to the Section A silver medal winner in Ronswood Gale Force and reserve in this championship came the Section C Youngstock champion, Shankly Man of War. Ronswood Gale Force went one step further to take the overall supreme Welsh In hand of the show with the runner up slot going to Haniel Cochise.

Our driving champion came from the Wenham family with their home bred Montel He's Mustard and our ridden Welsh summer championship was won by Waxwing Rheel. The mini champion was found in Rowfantina Royal Occasion with reserve going to Bobbin Jarmin. Traditional trotting class champion was found in Popsters Loaded Weapon.

This year saw us introduce a fun ring for our next generation who don't really want to compete in the affiliated young classes, this has proved very popular and something SEWPCA will be developing in the future.
