South Eastern WPCA Foal Show 2015

Sunday 22nd November 2015 was the date for the South Eastern Welsh Pony and Cob Associations’ foal, Youngstock and ridden show, held at Merristwood Equestrian Centre, Guildford, Surrey.

Mrs Ceri Fell of the Brynseion stud joined us to judge the Welsh Section A, B and Welsh Part Bred in hand classes. With Dean Smith of the Trevallion Stud covering the in hand classes for the Welsh Section C’s and D’s . Our own committee member, Miss Vanessa de Quincey of the Erimus stud covered the classes for the just broken, mini classes and the Junior/Amateur. All of our mixed M and M classes (in hand) and all our ridden classes were covered by Mrs A. Gommersall.

Our youngest exhibitor of the day was Master James Burchell riding his grandmothers’ Rowfantina Royal Occasion and led by his father Oliver Burchell who gained a 2nd placing in the Novice M and M Lead Rein class, aged just three years old.

Ceri Fell & Dean Smith found their Supreme 2015 Welsh Foal Champion in the Section C. Filly Foal class winner, Dycott Fancy-Fancy owned by Belcher Lee Harrington, with reserve going to the Section A Colt foal class winner, Mrs Debbie Barr’s Westfirle Tawny Oak.

The Supreme Welsh 2015 youngstock championship was hotly contested and they found their champion from the Welsh Section D’s this time, in Danaway Helen of Troy, owned by Maxine Ingham and shown by Sam Attrell who won the Section D Two year old class before going on to win the Section D championship, this Cob having travelled up from Cornwall to compete at this show. The reserve champion going to the Section C champion, Mr Freddie Luke’s Cwmhir Mary-Lou who had earlier taken the Section C yearling class.

Mrs Gommersall found her ridden champion from her final class of the day, namely the Open Large Breeds M and M ridden, in Mrs. R.G. Weller’s Abergavenny Zola with reserve slot going to the Aungier Family’s High Star ridden by Georgia Aungier.

Our mini champion was found in the Novice and Open First ridden class winner, Rockyview Eclipse ridden by C. Lemieux. Reserve champion went to Mrs Debbie Barr’s Open Lead Rein class winner, Westfirle Sandpiper ridden by Emilia Andrews.
