Family Hat Trick

Stewart Franklin’s Sarum Stud has started the current season in phenomenal style with one of his stallions, Heniarth Quinnell taking an early ticket only to be followed shortly afterwards with two homebred animals, Sarum Japhet and Sarum Rembrandt – quite an achievement.

Stewart takes up the story.

Sire: Gwynrhosyn Frenin 31986
Dam: 73367 Sunwillow Quest

Quinnell started this season by being Champion Ridden Welsh and Reserve Supreme Ridden Champion at Lampeter Stallion Show, the home show of his producer and rider Katie Parry. He won his H.O.Y.S. ticket at the Midland Counties Show and on the 15th June he went Supreme Ridden Champion at the South Western Association show at Chard, also winning the N.P.S. Silver Medal.

We had thought to retire Quinnell from the show ring at the end of this season but he is looking and going so well, there is a strong possibility he will be back in the ring in 2015.

He has a wonderful temperament and attitude and paired with Katie makes a very successful combination.

One week after Heniarth Quinnell qualified for H.O.Y.S. his son Sarum Rembrandt followed suit and won his ticket at Derbyshire Festival Show, ridden and produce by Sarah Parker for his owners Sarah and Julie Joyner from Bournemouth.

Shown very successfully for us as a youngster by Adam Fletcher, Rembrandt is out of our Champion mare Cledwyn Red Rose, the Section A Rhydspence Champion at the 2006 National Welsh Show. His sire Quinnell was also the Section A Ridden Champion at the 2011 National Welsh Show.

Sarum Japhet 77927

7 year old Welsh Mountain Pony Stallion
Sire: Heniarth Quinnell
Dam: 96539 Sarum Winter Jasmin

On the day before Sarum Rembandt qualified, his half brother Sarum Japhet also qualified at the South of England Show. Japhet is produced and ridden by Anna Richards for his owners, our friends Tony and Nicki McGuire. After Anna's comeback from a serious accident, this pair are aiming for the top again.

Japhet is out of Sarum Winter Jasmin, who has produced some very good ponies that have gone on to success in both the in hand and ridden classes.
