NPS Dressage Working Group

On the 14th & 15th April 2012, the NPS Dressage Working Group - a volunteer branch of the NPS - will host the fifth running of the NPS Supreme Dressage Championships sponsored in 2012 by Fodder Solutions.

As it is also Olympic year the group are also hosting an International Team Challenge open to all Registered Breeds of Pony and their Registered Part Breds. Sixteen young riders from Australia will be taking part and European riders are being encouraged to join in. Should your Society have contacts in Europe who might like to take part then please encourage to do so as Addington offers good facilities to visitors from far and wide.

We would like to invite your Society to send a team of four ponies to represent your Breed. Team ponies will need to qualify for the NPS Final at one of the many qualifiers around the UK or you may choose to host your own team qualifier. These have proved very popular and cost effective to run over the winter months.

There is no affiliation fee for qualifiers - which must take place by 14th March 2012. Competition packs can be obtained by emailing

The competition was set up to encourage a wide spectrum of competitor to take part and this has proven to be successful with both show and performance ponies enjoying competing side by side with no restriction on age of rider.

Best of Breed awards are provided in all of the individual sections. These have become highly prized.

In addition to the Breed event it is hoped a Native Breed display similar to that which used to perform at the Royal Show can be put together. Suggestions for Breed representatives would be much appreciated.

As it is a very special year a stallion parade is also planned. This will be offered to registered ponies and is being co-ordinated by NPS Council member Lucinda Sims. The parade will be free of charge and will take place on Sunday 15th April in the International Indoor Arena at Addington. The intention is for contact details and a photo of each participating stallion to feature in a centre fold advertisement within the Championships catalogue.

This is a very exciting venture. We would very much like your Breed to participate in this event and hope that you will choose to take part. Your representatives will be made extremely welcome at Addington Manor at what has become a very enjoyable and well supported competition.
