NPS Dressage Working Group Autumn Report

The competition is proving its worth as a “Grassroots” entry into dressage competition. Ponies and riders competing this season are enjoying fabulous success and the NPS can be very proud of their “Ambassadors”! Thirteen year old Becca Bell and her Welsh Part-bred pony Valido’s Starlight have been competing for the Team GB pony squad in France and Luxembourg, Shelby Dowding and her five year old Welsh Section D mare Peasedown Agatha took second place at the Pony Club National Championships whilst others have qualified for the British Dressage Regional and National finals from Prelim to Advanced Medium!

Over 100 qualifiers were held last year and more venues will be offering dates over the coming winter months. The dressage tests to be used at all qualifiers this season are BD Prelim 12 and Novice 27. Information on the competition can be found on the NPS Dressage Working Group’s interactive Facebook page.

Qualifying sections are:

·        British Riding Pony

·        Registered Part Bred & British Sports Ponies

·        M&M not exc 138cm

·        M&M exc 138cm

·        Junior – 13 to 18 on 01/01/2012

By popular request the Team Challenge will continue. Teams must consist of four qualified ponies – Areas, Breeds, Pony Clubs, Riding Clubs, RDA, friends and invited overseas societies are invited to send teams.

Our Australian visitors returned home having thoroughly enjoyed their homestays with some fantastic NPS members. Our Australian friends produced a wonderful account of their adventure for the Riding Pony Stud Book Society of Australia Annual. Exciting news is that a reciprocal visit for the dressage competitors is in the planning stage for 2014.
