Hay on Wye Moves to Hereford
Hay-on-Wye Autumn Pony & Cob Sale Moves To Hereford.
Brightwells, owing to mounting Health and Safety risks and regulations, is moving their Autumn Hay-on-Wye Sale of ponies and cobs to the new Hereford Market facility and the auction will now be called the Hay-on-Wye at Hereford Sale.
Terry Court of Brightwells said that, although this is a sad moment for him, as it is where the whole of the Brightwells equine business started 60 odd years ago, he hopes that moving the event to the fantastic new Hereford Market facility can only have a positive effect.
Brightwells will be trying to keep the Sale in the same format as it has taken for many years at Hay-on-Wye with two rings being used to sell on the day: one for the led ponies and cobs and one for the unhandled entries. As normal the annual foal show for registered Welsh Sections A, B, C, and D will take place and we are pleased to announce that this year’s judges will be a past president of the Welsh Pony & Cob Society, Mr Len Bigley and eminent breeder Mr Cerdin Jones of the Synod Stud.
Brightwells intend to keep all costs for entry fees, etc., the same as it has been for Hay-on-Wye and are sure that the Sale will have an exciting future at its new premises.
Terry, who started with the Company some 60 years ago, realises and understands that this will not be a popular decision with the town folk of Hay-on-Wye. However, he hopes that the Sale clients, both sellers and buyers, will appreciate the move.
The Hay-on-Wye Autumn Pony Event is extremely well supported from all corners of the United Kingdom and Europe and many sale graduates have hit the top in the showing and breeding world.
As always, the Sale will take place on the first Saturday of October, Saturday 3rd.
As for those clients who come and spend the weekend, there will be plenty of space available on site for the overnight caravans, lorries etc., and of course, in the many hotels and bed and breakfasts in Hereford city, and Brightwells will endeavour to make the transition as smooth as possible.
