First Cuddy Qualifier of 2011

First Cuddy Qualifier of 2011

Heniarth Mr Milligan (Roseisle Pandy Tudyr x Sunwillow Mutters by Revel Playsome)

The first Horse of the Year Show "Cuddy" In-hand championship qualifier of the 2011 season fell to the twelve year old Welsh Mountain pony stallion Heniarth Mr Milligan, produced by the Heniarth Stud for his Swedish owner, Inger Becker and her son, Johann. The first qualifier was staged at the Ponies (UK) West Midland Show at Malvern where Milligan stood Overall Welsh breeds champion and Supreme of Show to mark his return to the UK.

Inger purchased Mr Milligan as a yearling shortly before he won his class at the Royal Welsh Show from where he travelled to their Ekbacken Stud, growing up on a small island off the coast of Sweden, overlooking the Baltic sea towards Russia!

He returned to the UK as a six year old when he became the first ridden champion to stand Supreme of the Lampeter Stallion Show, going on to earn ridden qualification for the NPS finals at Olympia and the Horse of the Year Show in the same year. However he also returned to LLanelwedd that same year to win the Junior stallion class and reserve male championship on the Wednesday, jumped a clear round in the Working Hunter class the following morning and then stood Ridden Champion in the afternoon – epitomising the true versatility of the Mountain Pony!

He returned to Sweden where he has been received National recognition as a sire and a show winner – only to return to the UK six years later to represent the Ekbacken Stud and Sweden at the WPCS International Show in August 2011.

His young offspring in the UK such as Heniarth Dilyscious and Pant-y-Coed Little Owl are already making a mark under saddle, having both qualified for the Royal International Horse Show as lead rein ponies for the young jockeys.

He is due to return to Sweden at the end of the year, leaving four mares scanned in foal at Heniarth for 2012.
