Gelding Show Report 21st October 2016

Hillgarth Welsh Magic - Supreme Champion

Trustees of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society sponsored a Gelding Show on the morning of Friday 21st of October at the Cob Sales, held at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells with President Elizabeth French presiding.

The classes were open to geldings entered into the Friday sale and consisted of Section C, Section D and Welsh Part Breds. Sashes and rosettes were awarded with a cup for the Supreme Champion.

In the Section C 4 years and over the 1st prize and Champion went to Hillgarth Welsh Magic (Blaencila Ashley x Brynithon Minouette), owner Ms C M Griffiths. Reserve Champion went to Dylasau Wiliam Wyn (Alltwalis Bonheddwr x Clawddcoch Fergie), owner Mrs C Rafferty. Third place went to Genal Smotyn (Gwendaeth Dewinwr x Joyton Summer Solstice) owned by Mrs G George. There were no entries for the Section C’s 3 years and under.

In the Section D 3 years and under 1st prize and Champion was won by Tawelfan The Player (Tawelfan Jarvis Cocker x Waunoris The Duchess) owner Mr D R Roberts. 2nd prize and Reserve Champion went to Fwrog Socks (Trevallion Jacob x Fwrog Gwenllian), owner Mr N L MacCarter. 3rd prize was won by Brambridge Prince George (Derwen Galaxy x Brambridge Pearl), owner Mr R E Russell.

In the Section D 4 years and over Abergavenny Young King (Trevallion Picasso x Abergavenny Morning Queen), owner Miss C A Bennett, won 1st prize and Champion. 2nd Prize was awarded to Lodor Mathew (Penstrumbly Sax Mad Johnny x Lodor Miriam), owner Mrs G E Jones.

The Welsh Part Breds completed the event and 1st prize and Reserve Champion in the 3 years and under went to Penstrumbly Hollywood (Lodor Ffrwlyn Llwyd x Claudia), owner Mrs K J Hall. In the 4 years and over the 1st prize and Champion was won by Troedgwynau Jac Y Jwc (Mustang Spirit x Troedgwynau Llwynoges Goch), owner Miss C A Bennett.

The Supreme Gelding was announced as Hillgarth Welsh Magic and the Reserve Champion as Troedgwynau Jac Y Jwc.

It was a most enjoyable event with a large number of spectators many of whom enquired if this would become an annual event.
