Society President, Mr Eric Davies, to carry the Olympic torch on a Welsh Cob

Mr Eric Davies, President of the Welsh Pony and Cob Society, has been given the honour of carrying the Olympic Torch when it leaves Aberaeron on Sunday 27th May 2012.

Mr Davies will carry the torch riding a home-bred Welsh Cob mare, the 12-year old bay 114916 Maesmynach Angerdd (by Maesmynach King Flyer 33330, out of 100757 Maesmynach Direidi).  The Cob will carry the torch from Ceredigion County Council's offices at Penmorfa, Aberaeron, on its first leg of the journey to Aberystwyth, departing at 5pm.

It is very fitting that the President of the Society is given the role of carrying the torch on behalf of the Society and the Welsh breeds and also that the significance of the Welsh Cob to the area is given this prestigious recognition.
