The Real War Horses
A talk by Andrew Bowman exploring the role of the horse during the First World War on Saturday 2nd April at 2pm.
When you think of World War One, you probably think of the technology that made the war so deadly: tanks, machine guns, gas attacks and bombs. With so many deadly weapons at their disposal, it seems impossible that soldiers would need the humble horse to fight as well. But over a million horses were used by Great Britain alone, and like their human counterparts, many of them didn’t return home.
